Soft Colors with Strawberries

Soft Colors with Strawberries
10x8 oil
Still Life, oil on gesso board
$125.00

Here we go with the fifth in the Attic Finds series. What I call the "soft" colors of the two pieces just seemed to call out to be together. And the background also apparently wanted to be soft and peaceful but in a happy way.

When I was setting up the still life, I tried louder colors in the backgrounds and then darker colors but they were just not approved of by the green and blue couple up front. I thought I heard just the faintest sigh of delight when I brought these two pieces to try for the backgrounds. So that was that. (Maybe it was one of the sleeping studio cats having a dream?)

The strawberries I rescued from being sliced for dessert. We love to soak them in wine and get them a bit tipsy before we eat them! Of course, they didn't stay rescued for long!! I thought the deliciousness of the reds of the strawberries would go delightfully with all that color softness.

In log cabin in the woods news, the sun shone wonderfully yesterday! So brushes were laid aside as Himself and I made the trip to the "big city" to take some photos for a new painting project. Keep your fingers that aren't holding paint brushes or other mixed media tools in them crossed for me. Lots of interesting new work ahead.

Ever onward my peaceful friends.
